Alaska Mission to Prince of Whales Island

This will be a Family Friendly mission trip, children and youth as well as adults all welcome.  We expect to have a variety of ministry activities something for every age and abilities/gifts in ministry...

Goal cost per person $2,000.(note it can be less below)

(This covers airfare up to $800. and most all expenses except meals out and additional recreation expenses you may choose. It helps fund building supplies and many ministry materials we will be using.  It includes incredible blessing to the folks we are in ministry to...

Lowest possible cost to be able to go: Airfare plus $250 and groceries from home.

(This would be a  supplemented and bare bones kind of option which will be available to families with children going, and a few who simply couldn’t raise the full amount of $2,000.

If you commit yourself to the trip by purchasing your ticket and sending in the $250, we will by faith accept what God provides for the remainder as you commit to doing your all to see how God may provide.  Sometimes He has already given us the money we need, it is in our bank just waiting to be the blessing it was intended to be. Other times we have to work, and work extra little jobs or writing letters and asking for help or sharing with everyone we know who may be interested in assisting in small ways that all adds up.

Latest possible arrival date in Ketchikan, AK (KTN)

is Friday night midnight June 27th. (If you choose to come early and stay in a hotel etc at your own expense that is up to you. Anytime on the 27th is ok.

Departing day from Ketchikan, AK is Sat. July 12, and will likely be an overnight flight so you get to your home airport on Sunday July 13th.

The best airfares I have found for these dates are the following:  $771 Atlanta (ATL) to Ketchikan (KTN)    using orbits.com or travelocity.com $830 from Raleigh Durham and $859 from New Bern

Most of the travel routes use Alaska Airlines on the last leg and their fares have gone up to over $1000 and as much as over $3000 for these same routes which means the seats are getting short.  When I choose my seats during booking, there were not many choices left.  The point is simply don’t wait an hour longer than necessary after deciding to go, to book the ticket for the best price.

As with all mission trips we do:  We (Brad W. and KMO) have a servant oriented philosophy of ministry.  We go as servants not tourist.  We go to serve the people on site in AK.  We go to serve one another  We go to serve people we meet along the way.  Though we get lots of blessing and benefits, nothing about this trip is intended to be about “me” as in “also you” being the customer or consumer.  We are the ministry providers and helpers and instruments of God to use whatever we have within us to make it a wonderful experience for the people we are in contact with there and on the way.  When you agree to go, you give up your personal rights in exchange for being a servant of Christ Jesus on a mission.  With this kind of attitude from all, it is amazing what a fun, caring, loving, helpful, considerate group you will be interacting with and we know you will do your part.

Who may go with us?  Almost anyone, just call or e-mail me for confirmation then order your tickets.

What if I can’t build anything or carry a tune except on my Ipod,  or what if I’m old, or little...  

If you have a servant heart, there will be a place for you to help and serve.  I have never in 20+ years seen it not happen that way. (Same goes for finances: That I have never seen where God didn’t provide the $ for a team member who did his or her all to search out that provision.) If your heart is there because you know God is leading you this way, you do your part and you will see Him do His part.

What if I can go but can only stay one week? 

You can depart early but it will not save any money, in fact the extra transportation would cost you a little more, but you are welcome to do an alternate schedule so long as you cover your extra cost.  (If there was any direct savings, we would of course pass that on to you.)
