Why We Serve
John 13:34-35 says; "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." KMO believes God has shown that we are to lead others to a personal relationship with Christ. As we serve others, we must serve with such love that there is no doubt we are Christ's disciples. God calls each of us to go and make disciples of all nations. Each year KMO gathers teams of those wiling to serve and show the love of God through acts of service to a remarkable people.
Mission
KMO's mission is to provide clean water, medical and dental care, emergency relief, and discipleship for Kenyan communities to develop infrastructure for a sustainable, healthy future.
Values
KMO believes the scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired word of God, the revelation of God 's will for the salvation of man and inspiration for Christian faith.
KMO believes in one God, Creator of all things existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
KMO believes that Jesus Christ shed his blood for the sins of man and the resurrection provides the grounds for salvation for all who believe, and only those who have received Jesus Christ as their savior are born of the Holy Spirit. John 3:16 states "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
KMO believes God has gifted every individual with specific talents and spiritual gifts that enable them to minister to people in all walks of life. John wrote in Revelation, "After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne …" We are called to reach the nations.
Purpose
KMO was born out of opportunity discoverd as some of us responded to a request to help some local Kenyan folks in their ministry by showing the Jesus Film. We saw many needs on that first mission and continue to see how God uses one trip after the next to expand the vision and use people from all over the USA to meet so many needs. Remote villages throughout the world face hardships most of the modern world will never understand. While we worry about how to pay the bills, what car to buy, which color shirt we want to wear, the people of underdeveloped nations are praying for the basic necessities of life. Food, water, and shelter are seen as a precious commodity. KMO's purpose is to deliver hope to the people of Kenya, to show them they are not forgotten. We cannot help everyone in the world, or in Kenya itself. But we often can make the difference to one village and especially to the speicific group of people who are served thorugh one of the projects we have done to assist them.
